Our Story

Traditions from the Azores

1952
It all began...

On the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, on the Portuguese islands called the Azores.  Generations of our families began their days listening for the cry of Baleia a Vista! 
A whale in the sights! 
The watchman patiently overlooked the seas waiting for the appearance of whales and would give the signal to the families with a single yell or firework alert streaming into the air.  Boats of seven men would row out with nothing but a harpoon, oars, and bravery to provide for their island.  Three generations ago, this was the main economy of the Azorean islands which allowed these men to support their families and made them heroes to their communities.

Our families came from the two islands of Faial and Pico,

and love for their family.
